The Greenhouse Pt. 2

|

In your greenhouse, nurture your relationships like a unique garden: discern needs, build habits of love, and stay connected with God to flourish.

(new sermons published every Monday)

We exist to Fill the City with Jesus.

We empower the willing to come fully alive in God’s presence for the renewal of our cities.

Imagine a group of people in an authentic community, loving each other honestly, covering each other’s sins with forgiveness, prayer, confession, and encouragement, and serving and supporting each other genuinely. It’s in spaces like these where we begin to see the supernatural work of God within our relationships.

Use this guide with your community, in concert with the Field Journal, as you Strengthen Yourself in the Lord, Manage Your Household, and Fill the City with Jesus.

Strengthen Yourself in the Lord

Sermon Summary

Your greenhouse holds multiple gardens representing different relationships: marriage, children, friendships, and extended family. Each has unique soil requiring specific nutrients to flourish. Even a right action done at the wrong time can cause harm. When we discern hearts, step into the worlds of those we love, and consistently provide the right care, we build a culture where relationships thrive. This culture is shaped by our words and sustained by our habits. The rhythms we establish in our homes become systems that protect what every relationship needs most: connection. When our hearts are connected with God and one another, life truly flourishes.

Scripture References from the Sermon

Genesis 2:15   |   John 1:14   |   Mark 4:1-9   |   Proverbs 15:23   |   Proverbs 27:14   |   Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Discussion Questions

  • Read Mark 4:1-9 and discuss the 4 conditions of the heart. Summarize each in your own words.
  • How often do you see these conditions in your own heart change daily or weekly? Any trends or patterns?
  • After considering Proverbs 15:23, why do you think timing and content are important?
  • How do you actively care for the well-being of others by seeing the condition of their heart, yet not leaving them there?
  • Discuss the nutrients and how they might work in your home. (water, fertilizer, seed, air, light.)
  • What are some current “rhythms” your home operates with? What is one you might need to add or take away?

Manage Your Household

Practical spiritual activities:

  • Worship together – Dedicate time each week to worship with those in your household.
  • Pray together – Dedicate time each day for listening to and speaking with the Lord individually, and as a household. Record ongoing prayer requests into your journal or Field Journal.
  • Intercede for one another – Ask those in your household what is on their heart, then pray for one another. Refer to “Prayer Requests From Our Community” below and prayer recorded in your Field Journal and pray together for your city.
  • Read together – Spend time together reading God’s Word. Consider the Bible reading guide on our website.
  • Journal & Share – Share insight from what you’ve been hearing from the Lord and capturing in your journal weekly.
  • Take communion together – For those who are followers of Jesus, consider taking the elements together. There is a communion guide on our website.
