We exist to Fill the City with Jesus

We empower the willing to come fully alive in God’s presence for the renewal of our cities.

Imagine a group of people in an authentic community, loving each other honestly, covering each other’s sins with forgiveness, prayer, confession, and encouragement, and serving and supporting each other genuinely. It’s in spaces like these where we begin to see the supernatural work of God within our relationships.

Use this guide with your community, in concert with the Field Journal, as you Strengthen Yourself in the Lord, Manage Your Household, and Fill the City with Jesus.

Strengthen Yourself in the Lord

Sermon Summary

This week we continue our Character of God Series by considering the Faithfulness of God. His  faithfulness means that He is completely true to His character, His promises, and His covenant. This message focuses on His covenant faithfulness by learning from the covenants of the Old Testament and then shining a light on the faithfulness of God in Jesus’ establishment and fulfillment of the New Covenant. Let’s go to school on covenants, and walk out in awe of God’s faithfulness.

Discussion Questions

  • Consider God’s faithfulness. Take a few minutes to share with someone within your group or household about how you’ve experienced God through His faithfulness.
  • Discuss the common components of a covenant: terms, oaths, blessings and curses, and ratification. When you think about how Jesus fulfills these terms in the New Covenant, how does it change your appreciation for what He’s done and who He is?
  • Do you find it difficult to abide in Jesus and the blessings that come along with being in relationship with Him? How can this be improved in your life?
  • Read Hebrews 10:19-20 & Galatians 2:20. Jesus bore our curse, tearing the veil to bring us into God’s presence through His life, death, and resurrection. How can this truth build confidence as you Strengthen yourself in the Lord? Manage your household? Fill your city with Jesus?
  • What will you do differently, or what will change about you as a result of what the Holy Spirit has done through this message and discussion?
