Jesus is the way! Will you allow Him to lead and experience truly abundant living?

Listen + Watch the Message
(new sermons published every Monday)

Sermon Summary:

Jesus once said that He was the “way, the truth, and the life.” In this second week of our series titled, “Who Is Jesus?”, we dive a little deeper, considering how “Jesus Is The Way.” Are you more likely to choose His way or your own way? Are you too busy to follow Him when He offers? Are you susceptible to acting based on fear rather than faith? The Scriptures say that apart from Jesus we can do nothing. Will you allow Him to lead and experience truly abundant living?

Scripture References from the Sermon

Discussion Questions

  • Read John 14:6. What do you think Jesus meant when He said that He was “the Way”? What is easy about following Jesus for you? What is hard? Why?
  • Look at 1 Samuel 13:5-14 and 1 Samuel 30:1-9. Saul and David responded very differently to these difficult circumstances. Which type of person do you tend to be: “I take matters into my own hands and get it done”, or, “I pause, place the matter in God’s hands and listen for His direction, then act”? Are there circumstances where the first tendency is ever warranted? Explain.
  • In 1 Samuel 30:1-6, the circumstances were overwhelmingly tragic and difficult. David wept and was greatly distressed, but the Word says he “strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” What do you think that process was like? What did David do that is the same or different from what you do when you “strengthen yourself in the Lord”?
  • Do insecurities and fears ever direct your living? If so, in what ways?
  • Sometimes there is purpose in being in fearful situations. How do we discover, understand, and learn from that purpose?
  • If you are currently “abiding in Jesus” (John 15:5), describe what that looks like for you. How would you encourage others who might be struggling to abide in Him?
