We are calling for a church-wide fast to invite the entire family of Grace to join in on fasting and praying together. There is a dual practice the Scriptures give to us, forsake and pursue, let go and to seek, to turn away and to turn towards. This dichotomy is practiced when we fast, stop eating, say no, and deny our flesh of its pleasures in order to seek something greater – God.
In seeking God, we pray, and we spend time in His presence through, journaling, solitude, worship, or any other spiritual formation practices. During the week of January 26-February 2, we will be offering times to join together corporately to pray as we all fast together.
Two Truths we are seeking together are Promises and More.
We are fasting to rid ourselves of anything that might weigh us down or the sin that is trying to kill us internally, so we can obtain the Promises that are already ours in Christ. If you don’t know any promises, this is a time to seek the Word and hear from Him to find one. The other is toward the Truth of ‘more’, which comes from Ephesians 3:20.
The Lord is asking us to seek Him and pray so that He can do more than we ask or imagine. There is a power in the presence of God that doesn’t come by our collective might, nor by our individual power, but by the Spirit of God. Begin preparing now for the fast physically, spiritually, and mentally.
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power ar work in us.
